One of my favorite sayings is,
“We must do the things we think we cannot do.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt
So often, our thought patterns get in our way of our success. We tell ourselves we can’t do something. We have these notions that everyone else can, but I could never… Well, it’s time to wipe that away!
Half of yoga is just believing you can do it. And, yoga is just a reflection of our lives off the mat. Whatever we tell ourselves, whether it’s that we can, or we can’t, we believe it. What would happen if you changed the negative thought patterns to positive?
What if you told yourself that yoga pose IS accessible. If I have the right instruction, and alignment, and positive mindset, it is possible!
“I believe that anyone can conquer fear by doing the things he fears to do, provided he keeps doing them until he gets a record of successful experience behind him.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt
The key to yoga is consistency! The more you get on the mat, the stronger you will become, and you will see your practice absolutely blossom.
We tend to put our exercise as our last priority, but it is so important to keep it at the forefront of our priorities. As you take care of yourself, you nourish your mind, body, and spirit so that you can extend that nourishment to those that are so important to you.
One to two practices per week will calm your mind, three to four practices per week will show changes in your physical body, and five or more practices per week will transform your body and your mind. Go ahead, sign up for class today. Yes, today!
“A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.”
Eleanor Roosevelt
Ok, so this one is fun, but true! We show our strength when we come up against something challenging. It’s good to have supportive people around you, who can remind you how strong you are.
The yoga community is such a support. Just this morning, I was telling about a particular challenge with parenting. It was a quick conversation, but fellow yogis assured me my children will survive the teen years, and so will I! And, guess what? You will too! Whether it’s the early years, middle school, college, or even when they are raising their families, (I know my mom is still my sounding board;) you will all survive, and will all be happy healthy people! At least, they will only need a few years of therapy, but that will be good for them! 😉
Sometimes, we forget this in the midst of our daily struggles, but you
are STRONG, and you are AWESOME! YES, YOU ARE!!!
When you feel overwhelmed, overworked, or overstressed, remember that!
Believe it!
What would you do if you knew you
could not fail?
Do it!
loving my practice and learning to make it my own without judgement… takes some mental discipline but I am trying… Thank you for your amazing leadership and encouragement
It’s my pleasure! You all are amazing!
Good advice, as always, Miss Marcy! My body does not respond as it did years ago, but as long as I have positive intention I can do my personal best!
You are doing great, Tonda!
